DR. ALFRED MAHAMADU BRAIMAH is a Ghanaian by nationality born in a Town in the Upper East Region of Ghana called Zebilla on the 23rd of September 1959 and is married with 5 children.
He holds a BSc Administration (Accounting Option) from the University of Ghana and an MBA with Distinction from Durham University, United Kingdom. He also holds a PhD in Management specializing in Regional Payments and Settlement Systems and is a Chartered Accountant, Fellow and ICON of the Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria and an Alumni of the University of Ghana, Durham University and Harvard University.
He has acquired vast and varied working experience across the Rice farming and Milling Business, Fast Moving Consumer Goods, the establishment of New Business and Functions, and Oil Palm Plantation Business over a period of thirty-eight years in National and International Management in Nasia Rice Company Limited in Ghana, Unilever Ghana, India, UK, South Africa and Nigeria and the ECOWAS Commission in Nigeria.

He managed key functions at the management, senior management and Board Level in Customer Management, Audit, Finance, Logistics, Procurement, and General Management in Unilever. In particular, he held a number of positions in Unilever including Senior Auditor, Unilever Corporate Audit in India and the UK covering the UK, Africa, Middle East, Israel and Asia, Logistics Controller and member of the Executive Committee, Unilever Ghana, Regional Packaging Supply Director covering Africa, Middle East, Turkey and Israel, General Manager, West African Popular Foods Nigeria Limited, Project Manager, Oils, responsible for developing Business Case for the Sale of the Unilever Ghana Oils and Plantations Business and Finance Director and Member of the Boards of BOPP and TOPP.

In the ECOWAS Commission, he served as Director of Private Sector Promotion and Development for almost seven years and Director of Finance responsible for Financial Reporting, Treasury, Payables, Budgets and Funding for three years. He assumed duty as Auditor General of ECOWAS Institutions (A Statutory position allocated to Ghana) from the 1st of March 2018 and is based at the ECOWAS Commission in Abuja. He is responsible for the Audit of more than 30 Audit Units including Five (5) large Institutions. He also provides Advisory Services to Management. In this position, he is a Head of Institution and a member of the Management Committee of the ECOWAS Community Institutions.
